Video Workshops for Professional Writers Available On DemandJuly 29, 2010 - Professional development sessions by Marion Soubliere and Paul Lima at ‘Communicating for Cash’, the two-day workshop series presented by PWAC Atlantic and CFU, are now available on demand. PWAC Ottawa member Marion Soubliere wrote the book on cracking the $20 billion federal government market - Getting Work with the Federal Government: A guide to figuring out the procurement puzzle. Her two-and-a-half-hour session provides a detailed tour of the process. Meanwhile, everyone’s talking about how to use social media to market their work. But is it right for you? Writer/trainer Paul Lima reveals what he calls the five marketing arrows – arrows any business can access to effectively market their product of service, no matter what their marketing budget. Both sessions are available in a password protected area at http://PWACAtlantic.ca The cost of the two sessions – consisting of more than five hours of professional development by expert presenters plus their handouts – is $75 for the general public and $50 for members of the Professional Writers Association of Canada, the Canadian Freelance Union and the Editors Association of Canada. Any members of those organizations who attended the Communicating for Cash workshops in Sackville, New Brunswick, can get access to the archived videos for $20 while the price for non-members who attended the workshops is $30. If you want to try before you buy, visit the PWAC Atlantic site (http://PWACAtlantic.ca) and view the video samples on the home page.

Save Our School LibrariesJoin fellow writers for Airlift to LA - a Canada-wide book drive to put books on the empty library shelves of a Los Angeles elementary school. The goal is to put books in the hands of children - most who have never owned a book or read for pleasure - while highlighting the state of Canada's school libraries. The October 2nd event will include author presentations by several Canadian writers including Moncton Chapter PWAC member, Wendy Kitts, who will also help sort and catalogue books as well as paint murals with the students on the walls of Ralph Bunche Elementary School in California. For more information download our press release. To donate books or find more info, join our FaceBook page. And to see how your school library "stacks" up, download the assessment questionnaire. REVEILLE!

The Moncton Chapter of PWAC meets on the Third Wednesday of the
month (most often at the Moncton Press Club) for truly exciting business meetings.
Because we love to eat and socialize (and we've discovered this doesn't pair well with business), we also meet on the First Friday at various eatery locations in the Moncton area to swap news and congratulate each other on our outstanding successes and achievements. Next Business Meeting: Thinking of Joining PWAC?Potential Members are welcome to join us for lunch once or twice to meet the group and learn more about the organization. Please confirm attendance by contacting the Chapter President the week of the lunch. PWAC Chapter Events Across CanadaThe PWAC website lists Chapter events taking place across the country. pompous frills and meaningless jargon....
